American club professional golfer Tommy Fleetwood paid $154,000 prize money in error

Tommy Fleetwood’s strong British Open winnings had an unexpected beneficiary. More

Fleetwood finished with a share of 12th place at Carnoustie, and officials confirmed there had been a "clerical error".

If you follow golf at all you might recognize the name; British pro Tommy Fleetwood is now ranked 11th in the world and is a trendy pick for this weekend's PGA Championship at Bellerive in St. Louis.

Fleetwood's payout was reportedly deposited into the Wells Fargo bank account of a man with the same name, according to a screencap tweeted by golf school owner Greg Thorner, apparently a friend of the other Fleetwood. For Tommy Fleetwood he barely even noticed he hadn't been paid.

"My friend Tommy is club pro at the Streamsong Resort in Central Florida and I was with him there today when he received a notification on his cellphone", Thorner told the Telegraph.

'He got on to his bank immediately and they didn't know what to say.

It is believed the European Tour, who along with the PGA Tour are in charge of sending out prize money to the players, already had the former pro's bank account details because he had competed in Challenger Events in Europe decades ago. At least he can always say he won $154,000 at the Open'.

New quake strikes Lombok island
Authorities are still searching through the rubble left behind on Lombok Island, still hoping to find survivors. A witness told Reuters the aftershock sent people into the streets in panic and caused buildings to collapse.

"It's just something I don't really look at but I'll get on top of that!".

Hs is now preparing to play at this week's USPGA Championship at Bellerive in Missouri.

The tour have apologised to both Fleetwoods, while the better known one's wife and manager Clare was off to check their bank account.

Fleetwood - the English one - said: "I didn't know anything about it".

Open Tommy Fleetwood, meanwhile, wasn't sweating the mistake.

Fleetwood, who begins his PGA Championship bid at Bellerive on Thursday, said: "It looks pretty genuine".
