The 42-year-old was inundated with well wishes after releasing a statement to reveal that he would not be joining his fellow presenter Declan Donnelly to present I'm a Celebrity in 2018, and there would be no new series of their hit show Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway until 2020.

Ant McPartlin has announced that he will be taking the rest of the year off work, which will see Declan Donnelly host I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here this year.

The highly successful Geordie duo have been friends since they worked together on Byker Grove as teenagers.

He returned to the screens but stepped back from all presenting duties after crashing his vehicle in a drink-driving offence in March, which resulted in him being fined £86,000 and given a 20-month driving ban.

"Neither Ant & Dec nor ITV wanted to compromise the quality of the show and therefore felt it was better to rest the series next year". I'm looking forward to us both being reunited on screen in 2019'.

Ant McPartlin has confirmed that he will take a break from all TV roles until 2020.

But there are big questions about what I'm A Celeb will be like with just Dec on-screen.

Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie spar over child support, house loan
The Hollywood power couple had been together for 12 years and married for two when she filed for divorce in 2016. Pitt's court filing said it was the actor, not Jolie, who first made the request to speed up the divorce.

He was subsequently fined £86,000 and given a 20-month driving ban after pleading guilty in court.

Ant's co-host and friend, Dec, has already presented Saturday Night Takeaway on his own.

"It's a show they're hugely passionate about personally and they're extremely close to the team involved too - but everyone understands that this is a decision which hasn't been taken lightly and are supportive".

ITV Director of Television Kevin Lygo added, "ITV is completely supportive of Ant taking as much time as he needs in his recovery and of this mutual decision to rest Takeaway in 2019".

He continued: 'I'd like to thank both Dec and ITV for their continued support and I look forward to getting back to work in the new year'.

A further announcement concerning I'm a Celebrity is expected to be made by the channel in due course.
