Real Madrid made it two wins out of two to start the 2018-19 LaLiga season with a 4-1 victory over Girona on Sunday night at the Estadio Montilivi in Girona.

Girona were out to grab their first win of the campaign, but were almost pushed back by Real who looked to go in front but Karim Benzema saw his effort ruled out for offside on eight minutes.

Los Blancos bagged a third goal in the 58th minute as Isco's pass released Gareth Bale through on goal and the Welshman calmly slotted into the far corner.

But Luka Modric, who angled for a move to Inter Milan before the Italian transfer window closed, is on the bench.

Borja Iglesias doubled Espanyol's lead with his first La Liga goal and 2-0 was how it finished as Rubi's side added to the draw at Celta Vigo in their opener.

The Catalonians were having their way on the left side of the Real defence, funneling all their attacks on that side of the pitch. Ramos then stepped up and floated in a Panenka to level the score, 1-1.

Minutes after, Chilean Juanpe threatened to grab a second but the exploits in goal of Keylor Navas came to Real's rescue.

Girona opened their season with a 0-0 draw against Real Valladolid in the curtain raiser for the league.

Benzema scored his second on 80 minutes as he collected Bale's tempting cross and had time to turn and power the ball home.
