Dedryck Boyata goes from villain to hero as Celtic edge past Hamilton

Brendan Rodgers was unable to call on Boyata for the club's crucial Champions League qualifier against AEK Athens which they lost 2-1 and exited the competition.

The Belgian defender scored the victor in a 1-0 defeat of visiting Hamilton for Brendan Rodgers' men but might still be on his way out of the club by the end of the European window after a controversial series of events over the summer months.

Boyata returned to the side to face Hamilton in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday but was met with a frightful sign from angry fans.

And he went on to hit the victor for Celtic despite the club's fans showing their displeasure at his selection, with a banner held up inside the ground reading: "Boyata - not fit to wear the jersey".

Celtic coach Brendan Rodgers praised his player for the ability to rise to the adversity.

HRC President Issues Statement on the Passing of Sen. John McCain
McCain was one of the staunchest supporters of anti-Russian sanctions and was known for his harsh criticism of Moscow. Trump was furious about McCain's vote and frequently referred to it at rallies but without mentioning McCain by name.

"Obviously I'd have preferred a different reaction but I'm not going to criticise the supporters", he said, as reported by the Daily Record.

"Naturally supporters, the real passionate supporters, look for that commitment in the player, it is not always about ability". It wouldn't have been easy for him and it certainly wouldn't have helped us.

"I think the biggest thing is this situation should have been resolved before the summer. I thought he was top-class".

In the buildup to the game with Accies, much of the talk surrounding the champions centred on Boyata's future with various reports linking him with a potential move away.

The fan group unveiled an anti-Boyata banner during their side's 1-0 win over Hamilton Accademical in the Ladbrokes Premiership on Sunday.
