In comments issued by the campaign, Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe said she "wasn't expecting it at all" and it was "awesome" for her daughter Gabriella to "have mummy home".

"Mrs. Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe has been granted a three-day release from prison in Iran to reunite with her family", Iran's ambassador to Britain, Hamid Baeidinejad, said on Twitter.

Richard Ratcliffe said her temporary release was a "happy surprise" and she is with family in Damavand.

Although the initial release is for three days her lawyer is hopeful that this can be extended, her husband said.

Followed by the ceremony, the couple also planned an engagement bash with close family and loved ones from the film fraternity. Adding further, he stated, "She's a Water sign and such people travel a lot and do well away from their place of birth".

Former British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson was heavily criticized past year after he claimed Zaghari-Ratcliffe was "teaching people journalism" when she was arrested.

Speaking to BBC Wales her sister-in-law, Dr Rebecca Ratcliffe, said: 'Every time there's a change in foreign secretary and anything happens in the government to destabilise things, her case just gets put to the bottom of a very long list of priorities for the foreign secretary and foreign office'.

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, a project manager with the Thomson Reuters Foundation, was arrested in April 2016 at a Tehran airport as she was heading back to Britain with her two-year-old daughter after a family visit.

She was also accused of being a journalist, when in fact she works for a charity, the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

"Really good news that Nazanin has been released on furlough, credit to tireless campaigning by husband Richard and her friends", Hunt tweeted.
