At wet and windy Windsor Park the hometown favourite made a promising start that suggested Jackson would struggle to last the 12-round distance.

Carl Frampton beat Australia's Luke Jackson following a ninth round stoppage in Belfast to successfully defend his interim IBO featherweight title.

It is also little secret that until his defeat by Warrington, Wales' Lee Selby was in contention to instead be Frampton's opponent before Jackson's selection.

Following the bout Frampton and Warrington both expressed an interest in a match-up while, the pair's promoter Frank Warren said the fight will happen "definitely this year".

Ahead of the fight at Northern Ireland's football ground, opponent Jackson said: 'If he loses to me his career's over'.

"I have got a lot of respect for him but this is boxing and you want to fight the best".

Florida urges vaccinations after 3 measles cases reported
Measles is a virus that spreads easily because it travels in air droplets when an infected person breathes, coughs or sneezes. While the disease is treatable, the CDC said, one or two out of every 1,000 children who get measles die from complications .

But Frampton dismissed that and said: 'I've seen a few things Luke's said.

'Windsor Park is something I've wanted for a very, very long time. For the last five years it's been a dream of mine, and now we're doing it.

"I feel in the shape of my life because, mentally, I'm so happy with boxing this previous year". Everything's flipped for me. I was winning fights and beating big names but I wasn't enjoying it.

Belfast's Carl Frampton stopped Luke Jackson in nine rounds to secure another shot at the world featherweight title on Saturday.

With Jackson increasingly struggling to defend himself and remain on his feet having already been knocked down in the eighth, his corner threw in the towel for referee Terry O'Connor to wave the action over after 1 minute, 21 seconds of the ninth.
