Celtic stopper Craig Gordon spoke exclusively to the Daily Record about his teammate Dedryck Boyata's current situation at Parkhead, and insisted that all of the Hoops squad are firmly behind the troubled Belgian.

After a few weeks of rumurs of a move, and denials by both clubs, Celtic did make an offer for Scotland global Scott McKenna.

The Belgium defender was sent to train with the Under-20s after claiming an injury led to him missing the third qualifying round defeat at AEK Athens last Tuesday night while manager Brendan Rodgers insisted he was fit.

Dedryck Boyata was expected to make his Celtic return in the first leg, but that is now not going to be the case as he is out with a back issue.

"We're at a stage in the season where we can't afford to take any real risks on players if they're not physically right to be here", BBC Sport quote him as saying. He is a young player that I like.

After disappointment in the Champions League qualifiers, Gordon is looking no further than the double-header against the Lithuanian champions. I'm sure they'll be pushing hard to get into the Europa League group stages - that is a great competition as well.

"In fact, he pointed out that if it wasn't a great place to be at he wouldn't have signed his new deal and that was good enough for me".
