A week after being swatted aside by Manchester City in the Community Shield, Chelsea beat Huddersfield 3-0 in Maurizio Sarri's first league match in charge.

There was also no place in the squad for Ethan Ampadu, another young player to have impressed in pre-season, and Tammy Abraham who Sarri looks to have chosen as their third-choice striker ahead of Batshuayi.

"It depends on me and the players".

When a team plays well but loses, it is sometimes hard to figure out if they have been wasteful or unlucky. I hope in this month to improve the team. We have to move the ball faster.

The Blues were the sole aggressors in the second half and, after Hamer parried a header from Antonio Rudiger behind, Alonso sent an acrobatic effort against the crossbar in the 58th minute.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri gave a debut to the world's most expensive goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, while another summer signing, Jorginho, scored a penalty in the 3-0 away win, with Pedro and N'Golo Kante also on target.

In an interview with ESPN recently, the player stated, "The only club I knew that really made an official offer for me was Barcelona". "The best thing for him was to play 15-20 minutes when the opposition was exhausted".

"The situation until now has been very hard".

"The first half was hard".

One for the future in Luke Amos, perhaps; the 21-year-old made his Premier League debut, coming on for the final few minutes. Alli's goal marked the second season in a row in which the midfielder has scored in the opening game.

Even as Chelsea grew in the game and took the lead, Morata looked slightly lost in the attacking line as Willian and Pedro opted to cut in from their wide positions.

Mauricio Sarri said this week that his Chelsea team might not play entirely as he wants until the second half of the season and, against Huddersfield, they certainly were not the whirling, fast-paced team of the new manager's ideals. "The best capacity was to suffer, but then I think the second half maybe they were exhausted".

Huddersfield boss David Wagner accepted his side were roundly outplayed, highlighting defensive errors as contributing to a heavy home loss. They were very clinical.

Huddersfield were a persistent threat from crosses into the box and they went close to an equaliser when Steve Mounie headed Mathias Jorgensen's flick-on against the inside of the upright.

"I want to do a good Chelsea".

"I think you have to wait [to see "Sarri-ball"] for a couple of months".

"The second goal we conceded shortly before half-time is a goal which we should never concede".

As Jorginho approaches the ball, he skips just before the taking his shot.
