Daniel Arzani: Manchester City winger joins Celtic on loan

With Daniel Arzani joining Celtic on loan from Manchester City, competition for places in wide areas is fierce at Parkhead.

The Iran-born winger, who has five caps, became the youngest player to make a World Cup appearance for Australia at this summer's tournament in Russian Federation.

"The idea was put to me to come to Celtic and work with Brendan Rodgers", Arzani told the Celtic website.

Arzani was able to join Man City thanks to their shared relationship with Melbourne City, who are also under the umbrella of the parent company City Football Group.

"I gave Tom a call and had a chat with him about the club and everything was positive". The holders crossed the city after the roughest passage of Rodgers' two-year tenure as manager, having failed to win three successive games for the first time since the Northern Irishman arrived in the east end of Glasgow in June 2016.

"But, for me, it's about coming here, doing the best that I can and helping the club as much as possible".

Tropical Storm Ernesto is coming, get ready for some really heavy rain
According to Met Eireann , it will be mild and humid tonight, with temperatures unlikely to fall below 13 to 15 degrees Celsius. Forecasters say it's likely to merge with a frontal zone as it approaches Ireland and the United Kingdom on Saturday.

Arzani will link up with fellow Aussie Tom Rogic, who has become a key member of the Celtic squad and recently signed a new deal that will see him stay at the club until 2023.

Arzani will link up with global team-mate Tom Rogic, who signed a new five-year contract at Celtic Park towards the end of last season, and who also encouraged him to make the move to Glasgow.

"Basically he said to me that if it wasn't so good, he wouldn't have signed an extension".

Twitter user Labour Celtic Fans though was not happy with the club signing an attacking player, with defenders being the need of the hour at the club, putting the Champions League failure on the lack of a centre-back and right-back.

"I'm here for two seasons at least and my focus is to develop as a player".
