Idris Elba sparks 007 casting rumors with a James Bond remix

Danny Boyle, the Academy Award-winning director who was announced as the director in the next James Bond film, has left the project.

Production on Bond 25 is set to begin in December of this year, with the United Kingdom and Ireland release now scheduled for 25 October 2019.

Boyle, the director of Slumdog Millionaire and Trainspotting, earlier this year confirmed that he would direct the 25th Bond film. Both Wilson and Broccoli serve as producers on the upcoming film, and Daniel Craig will be returning as James Bond for the fifth time since taking on the iconic role in 2006's Casino Royale.

Boyle previously directed star Daniel Craig as Bond in a 007-themed segment for the opening of the 2012 London Olympics.

The Bond films might operate on a formula, but their most successful films are the ones that play with it, and Boyle is fantastic at playing with formula.

Danny Boyle is no longer directing Bond 25.

Producers of the multi-million pound franchise and 007 actor Daniel Craig revealed the news in a tweet this afternoon.

The pair worked together on two Trainspotting movies, in 1996 and 2017, and The Beach, starring Leonardo di Caprio.

Creative differences is the most milquetoast excuse Hollywood has for anything so we really don't know what the hell is going on, but I'm honestly a bit surprised about this. Also unclear is whether producers still intend to use the written by Boyle's longtime collaborator, John Hodge.

Before Boyle hoped aboard Bond 25, Hell or High Water filmmaker David Mackenzie, Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve, and White Boy Rick helmer Yann Demange were reportedly frontrunners for the job.
