U.S. President Donald Trump threatened in an interview with Bloomberg News on Thursday to withdraw from the World Trade Organization if "they don't shape up", in his latest criticism of the institution.

"If they don't shape up, I would withdraw from the WTO", the BBC quoted Trump as saying in an interview with Bloomberg News on Friday.

Countries that bring complaints to the WTO tend to prevail and defendants in trade disputes lose.

"In the previous year, we're starting to win a lot", he added.

Meanwhile, Washington has recently been blocking the election of new judges to the WTO's dispute settlement system, which could potentially paralyse its ability to issue judgments.

Trump told NBC's Chuck Todd in 2016 the WTO is a "disaster" and has repeatedly told White House officials he wants to leave the organisation, according to a June report from Axios.

Knight, meanwhile, is coming off ACL surgery that kept him sidelined for all of 2017-18. The 30-year-old signed a four-year deal with the Rockets in 2016 worth $80 million.

The US president has been sounding off about unfair trade since even before he became president. In 2017, Trump told Fox News: "The WTO was set up to benefit everybody but us We lose the lawsuits, nearly all of the lawsuits in the WTO". "We lose the lawsuits, nearly all of the lawsuits in the WTO". This coincides with several nations threatening to take legal action against the United States through the WTO over the White House's trade wars.

The one creating the most interest is the one with China, as the world's two largest economies wrangle for global influence.

Trump has expressed his dissatisfaction with the organisation before, especially regarding China's steel dumping and theft of U.S. intellectual property.

It is unclear whether Trump would be able to withdraw the U.S. from the WTO without congressional approval.

For all of his complaints about the WTO, Trump's administration has continued to file cases against other members.

But WTO data also shows that the United States does slightly better than the WTO average in both cases it brings and that are brought against it, said Simon Lester, a trade analyst at the Cato Institute, a Washington policy group that favors more open worldwide trade.
