Girl Who Met Drake Will Get Needed Heart Transplant

Sanchez was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and is in need of a heart transplant.

After her surgery, Sofia will remain at Lurie for a few weeks to recover, before spending six to eight weeks at the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago.

Drake and Sofia hit it off instantly, talking about the show "Riverdale", taking silly selfies and singing songs from Drake's new album "Scorpion", her mother, Natalie Sanchez, said last week. Drake was in town for his concert at the United Center, and it just so happened that Sophia's 11th birthday was that weekend, too.

After her mother told her the news, Sofia hugged her and said: "I'm getting a heart mum!" A Facebook video of her receiving the news has been viewed more than 53,000 times. "And my other wish is to get a heart, which is gonna happen soon".

The news also was announced on Sofia's GoFundMe page.

"That one did happen and it was great", Sofia says in the Instagram video.

Then last week, Sanchez's wish came true: Drake arrived at the hospital to wish her a happy birthday. "Surgery went well", the statement said.

Hate him or love him, you can't deny the fact that Drake is a pretty damn good guy.

Sofia's jaw drops as she looks at her idol, unable to speak for the first minute. "It's on Netflix", she begins to explain, her bubbly personality now shining through. "I'll see you on Wednesday" he said.

Warning: this is going to get you in your feelings. The video inspired a viral dance craze.

He also gifted Sofia with his autograph, but not before asking for her own signature first.

"This is the best birthday present I've ever had", she added. According to a spokesperson at Lurie, the little girl had been waiting eight weeks for news of a transplant availability.
