Everton confirm signing of defender Lucas Digne from Barcelona

The 25-year-old defender has signed a five-year deal with the Premier League club after the Toffees agreed to pay £18million for the 21-cap France global.

"I want to show my best football here and discover the best league in the world".

Digne follows Richarlison in signing up at Goodison Park as Silva begins shaping his new charges ahead of the forthcoming Premier League season.

Barca announced the France worldwide left-back was sold for an initial fee of €20.2 million, with a potential €1.5m in add-ons. "That is what is important and I could not be more excited about this challenge".

"This is a great club, I've spoken to Lee Evans and he loves the place, so it seems the right move for me".

Digne joined Barca from Paris Saint-Germain in 2016 after he spent the previous campaign on loan at Roma, but he has largely been forced to play a back-up role to Jordi Alba, making just 12 appearances - eight from the start - in La Liga last term.

"We will work together as a team to try to make this happen". I spoke to the manager, had a few chats with him, and his aims for the season are similar to mine.

"He is a high-quality player, aggressive, with good technical ability and in the past five seasons he has played two years at Paris St Germain, one in Roma and for the past two seasons he has demonstrated his clear quality in Barcelona".

Wilder, whose side beat-off competition from a host of other sides to land Woodburn, added: "Ben is a great signing for us, he is an exciting player with undoubted quality. This is his mentality having captured titles in his career and having these on his resume".
