FDA issues voluntary recall of thyroid tablets

FDA recalls two thyroid medications

The medication in question contains a combination of levothyroxine, called LT4, and liothyronine, called LT3.

The recall follows a June 22 warning letter from the Food & Drug Administration to a Chinese pharmaceutical company which manufactured active ingredients in the recalled drug. Both are synthetic thyroid hormones used when a person's thyroid gland is no longer functioning properly.

The FDA has issued a voluntary recall for the medications because of potential problems with an ingredient in them.

The FDA issued an Import Alert regarding Sichuan Friendly in March 2018. Substandard cGMP practices could represent the possibility of risk being introduced into the manufacturing process.

Penny twice stonewalled rookie fifth-round pick Shaquem Griffin, and also stopped undrafted rookie Jake Pugh. The 22-year-old Penny was a star at San Diego State, leading the country with 2,248 rushing yards in 2017.

The voluntary recall includes lots of Levothyroxine and Liothyronine in 15 mg, 30 mg, 60 mg, 90 mg and 120 mg tablets.

Westminster Pharmaceuticals, LLC reports that it has not received any reports of adverse reactions to these medications and that the recall is being done as a precaution.

Because thyroid medications can treat serious disease, the FDA recommends that consumers continue to take the pills until they can contact their physician or pharmacist for further guidance.

The FDA says those ingredients were found to have deficiencies.
