Google Titan Security Keys

Shortly before the Titan was announced, Google said that none of its employees had fallen victim to a phishing attack since early 2017, and it had physical security keys to thank for that. If you are trying to verify on an Android phone, you could use the Bluetooth key or the USB-C adapter included with Google's Titan Security Keys. Available now for $50 from the Google Store, the Titan Security Key works like other fob-based authenticators (Yubikey and so on) by providing its own onboard security firmware to ensure that the system is secure and safe from phishing attacks.

Titan security keys use the FIDO Universal Second Factor (U2F) protocol, which relies on public key cryptography.

Using a strong password is the accepted standard for securing accounts, but in some instances, it's simply not enough. One of them is a standard USB security key measuring 1.7 x 0.8 x 0.1 inches (LxWxH), with NFC support, and the other one is a Bluetooth security key measuring 1.8 x 1.2 x 0.3 inches (LxWxH).

"Google's automated defences securely block the overwhelming majority of sign-in attempts even if an attacker has your user name or password, but we always recommend you enable two-step verification (2SV) to further protect your online accounts", Srinivas added.

Elvis Dumervil retires after 12 years in NFL
With 20 multi-sack games in Denver, Dumervil is tied with Ring of Famer Simon Fletcher for most career multi-sack games . He was released by the Ravens in 2017, and spent last season with the San Francisco 49ers , where he had 6 ½ sacks .

iOS users will need to download the Google Smart Lock app to enable the Titan Bluetooth key on their devices.

If you think that the two devices look identical to a pair of products by Feitian, it's possible that it is the OEM. But because they are FIDO-compatible, they also work with other compatible account types, including Facebook, Dropbox, Stripe, Twitter, and many more.

Google's online store is not yet available in South Africa, but users in supported countries can order the new Titan Security Key kit from today. A representative speaking on behalf of Google told us that "Google is the manufacturer of record and we contact a third party to produce the keys". For more detailed information about the Titan Security Key (and an in-depth explanation of the advantages of a hardware security key), keep an eye out for our upcoming review.
