WTA New Haven- Draw Simona Halep set to meet Karolina Pliskova in semis

Halep won the tournament in 2013, but has not appeared at the event since the following year. She will play qualifier Camila Giorgi in the second round.

He has been ranked as high as No. 5 but is now 64th.

Petra Kvitova laughed when asked about her first-round match at the Connecticut Open. "I'm not sure who did the draw". We have both won here and we both know we can play well here. "It's a great first-round match".

"We played many rallies, and it was a very physical match. The peaks and pits of Bertens 2018 season came to a boil in Cincinnati as she said "I was just, like crying, I don't know.I was so exhausted, and I didn't really know how I did this".

Kiki Bertens won the biggest of her six career WTA titles on Sunday at the Western and Southern Open, saving a championship point before defeating world No. 1 Simona Halep to lift her first hard-court trophy. She felt overwhelmed with emotion yet accomplished. Her likable personality, aggressive baseline game and loyalty to this tournament even after she became a Top 10 fixture has earned her quite a following here.

Kvitova, the champion in 2012, 2014 and 2015, will face the 2016 champion Agnieszka Radwanska on Monday night at the Connecticut Tennis Center. Her comeback from a knife attack during a home invasion in her Czech Republic apartment in December, 2016, has really taken her career to new heights in terms of both success and consistency.

Dead ravens in B.C. test positive for West Nile virus
West Nile can potentially pass from birds to mosquitoes to humans, but there is no indication that any people have been affected. Up until last week, the virus, which is carried by mosquitoes, had infected a total of 77 people, while five people have died.

During the attack, her left playing hand was sliced causing nerve and tendon injuries that required several surgeries to fix.

"Hopefully Wednesday or Thursday I can get back on the court", Halep, 26, told reporters.

"For sure I need a little bit of rest because I'm exhausted".

"I was, like, 'Yeah, I know this feeling, '" Bertens elaborated. There is nothing specific that has changed, to be honest, it is just the consistency of it. "I'll see day by day how it goes".

Halep has reached six finals already this year, winning in Shenzhen, Montreal and most importantly her first grand slam title when she conquered Stephens at the French Open in June.

While not specifying if she will actually play, Halep said she would travel to CT yesterday.
