On the most recent episode of his podcast, JJ Redick detailed a pretty scary situation involving a auto service ride he and his family had recently.

Redick said he was doing a photo shoot for MrPorter.com in New York City, and when the shoot was over, the company had a auto to come pick him up.

As Redick tells it, the story begins with the clothing company providing Redick, his wife, Chelsea, and her twin sister, Kylee, a ride back from an apartment where the photo shoot took place. After asking the driver to pull over and getting out of the vehicle, Reddick said he saw the blanket move.

Redick said he retrieved his party's belongings from the trunk, put them on the sidewalk and continued to press the guy about the mysterious box and blanket.

"We jumped out of the auto immediately", Redick said.

I'm like, "Sir, I think there's a person in your backseat".

The athlete claims the driver lifted the blanket slightly to inspect before saying there was nothing there and then closing the trunk.

The player later called the auto service to complain - and were told the driver had been disciplined for bringing along another passenger in the front seat, according to Redick.

"It's the-no, this is not amusing". There's a ponytail. And based on the size of the box or cage that this person is in, it's like either, like a very small human, or a child. And I'm like, 'We all saw it, right?'

"And then from there you can go darker. Was that a dog with like a very fury tail?"

"And she's like, 'No".

"She's like, 'No. The reason I said there was a person is because I saw movement in my peripheral-out of my right eye. So when I looked back, half of a human face came out of the blanket", he explained.

Philadelphia 76ers player J.J. Redick claims he saw a caged woman hidden under a blanket in the trunk of a auto service he was using in NY.

Redick says he and his family jumped out and called police and that's when the driver took off. He said he also called the auto agency, who later sent an email saying they suspended the driver (though not because he possibly had a person in the trunk).

Philadelphia 76ers guard JJ Redick says he saw something unusual after a photo shoot in Manhattan.

Redick said he turned and spotted a large blanket that was moving as it covered what appeared to be a box or cage.

Redick concluded the story by saying that Kylee was going to call the Federal Bureau of Investigation tip line about the incident.

J.J. Redick has had a pretty good summer in that he was able to get a nice little payday from the Philadelphia 76ers. Last season he posted a career-high 17.1 points while shooting 42% from three.
