Jennifer Lopez set to receive Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award

With pop fans squabbling as to which star is most deserving of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, MTV has finally announced that this year's recipient will be Jennifer Lopez.

Previous winners of the award include Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Beyonc-, Kanye West, Madonna and Pink.

Jennifer Lopez, 49, will be presented the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award this year, MTV announced Tuesday. The very first Vanguard awards were given to David Bowie, The Beatles, and Richard Lester in 1984 at the very first MTV VMAs.

The Video Vanguard Award is given to artists to honor their vast catalog of music videos.

The hitmaker released her debut album, On The 6, in 1999 and has gone on to sell over 80 million records worldwide. J-Lo responded "It is wonderful, honestly".

Lopez is also nominated for two Video Music Awards-Best Collaboration and Best Latin Video-for her most recent single, "Dinero", which also features DJ Khaled. Being the recipient is like - I can't even believe it. The title serves as the awards show's lifetime achievement award.

"In any career, you just have to really work harder than everybody else - honestly, that's really been the secret sauce for me", said Lopez.
