As Sakkari's confidence grew, so did Collins' unforced error count and the Greek player battled to set points at 5-4. She advanced to face American Danielle Collins - with the victor reaching her first WTA final.

Danielle Collins moved into the semifinals of the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic on Friday after Victoria Azarenka was forced to retire due to a knee injury, trailing 3-0 in the second set after she had won the first in a tight tiebreak 7-4.

British No 1 Johanna Konta is out of the Silicon Valley Classic after losing to Elise Mertens in the quarter-finals in San Jose.

She won four straight games in the second set to put pressure on Collins, and ultimately evened the match with a forehand victor.

Facebook has begun internally testing its dating feature
Facebook shut down Paper, a stand-alone iOS app that was part News Feed, part newsreader, in 2016, two years after its launch. Facebook is trying to get into the dating game - and we've just had our first proper glimpse at how it might look.

Meanwhile, Buzarnescu will get another shot to break through for her first career WTA singles title after rallying back against Mertens.

"I'm so pleased and happy to be in the final, the third final of my career", Buzarnescu told reporters. "I really need to look at that and use it to stay strong and positive for the future". She grabbed her right leg in the opening game of the second set, lost the first three games and was evaluated by a trainer and doctor before retiring prior to the fourth game.

Collins won her 20th match on home soil this year to reach her second WTA semifinal of the year, following her final four run in Miami.
