Jose Mourinho is facing up to more disappointment in the transfer window with Juventus closing in on a big-money deal for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

The Italian champions want to make sure that there are no Premier League clubs involved in the transfer chase once they decide to approach Lazio for Milinkovic-Savic.

According to CalcioMercato, Milinkovic-Savic's agents would like to see the midfielder playing for a more competitive side than Lazio after the club missed out on Champions League qualification in 2017/18, but are waiting for an acceptable offer to arrive from a top club.

The Serbia worldwide, who was linked with a move to Old Trafford much earlier in the window, has recently been the subject of fresh approaches from Inter, AC Milan and Juventus as Lazio prepare to cash in.

The English giants were put off by Lazio's initial £134m valuation so it looked as though Milinkovic-Savic was set to stay in Rome with speculation suggesting the clubs president was ready to offer him a new contract. Chelsea have also been mooted to be a possible Premier League destination, but time is running out.

Chelsea are expected to be busy over the next few days reshuffling their squad and with Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater tipped to leave, Maurizio Sarri has confirmed he'd like to bring in another midfielder so they may be tempted by Milinkovic-Savic.

The 23-year-old has emerged as one of the leading young stars in European football over the past 18 months and United fans will be watching this very closely indeed, especially with the rumours about the future of Paul Pogba continuing to fill the column inches.
