Kyle Lafferty desperate to redeem himself in the eyes of Rangers fans

It was a hat-trick of title winning performances for him.

The Northern Ireland worldwide had spent four years at Ibrox, hitting 38 goals and lifting three league titles, and did not disguise his delight at being back in light blue.

"I went to Hearts last season and had a good season and now I have been given a second chance, which I am lucky to have".

'I just turned up for training, worked hard and scored goals and now I am here today and I am delighted'.

"One because they believe, and I believe, that Rangers should be playing European football".

'But I am here now and you'll find a different person.

'Did I think I would get another chance though?

Alan Shearer claims Sergio Aguero better than Thierry Henry
In his Premier League Team of the Week column for the league's official website, Shearer hailed: "He was deadly again. A great centre-forward with no weaknesses".

The 30-year-old spent four years at the Gers before he departed for Sion in 2012 and went on to play in Italy, Turkey and England before returning to Scotland with Hearts last year.

"We know we're quite bare up there without him, so that's why we want him".

In that time, he's had to overhaul a squad, bringing in 12 new players, hurdle three rounds of Europa League qualifying (with another to come this week), as well as face Aberdeen, Rangers' primary rivals for second place in the Scottish Premiership, on opening weekend, and Kilmarnock for a place in the Scottish League Cup quarterfinals.

"I was raw, I was inexperienced and I made similar mistakes, and I got over-excited", the former Liverpool captain said.

"It is hard if a team are relying on one or two players, it has got to be throughout the squad and it is a good place to be".

"I score big goals and I think I have done that my entire career but throughout the whole squad there are goals everywhere and that is the most important thing".
