Manu Ginobili 'seriously considering retirement', ESPN report says

Manu Ginobili

Ginobili has played for the San Antonio Spurs since 2002 and is under contract for the 18-19 season at $2.5 million.

San Antonio Spurs shooting guard Manu Ginobili will discuss the possibility of retirement with head coach Gregg Popovich after playing 16 seasons in the National Basketball Association, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Ginobili, who turned 41 last month, is scheduled to meet with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich in the near future.

Ginobili, 41, has been reportedly working out regularly at the Spurs' facility ahead of training camp but has yet to commit to a return for what would be the 17th National Basketball Association season of his Hall of Fame career.

Popovich is traveling back to San Antonio from Europe, where he recently participated in the league's Basketball Without Borders event in Belgrade.

US Market Indexes Close Higher on Tuesday
The TSX's energy group rose 0.79 points, or 0.40 percent, while the financials sector slipped 1.12 points, or -0.36 percent. Toll Brothers shares jumped 13.8 percent after the homebuilder reported better-than-expected quarterly results.

Wojnarowski's report said he has been working out at the practice facility and the team is giving Ginobili all the time he needs to make his decision.

He is one of the most beloved, if not the most beloved, players in Spurs history.

Tim Duncan retired a few seasons ago, Tony Parker signed with the Charlotte Hornets and Kawhi Leonard has been traded to the Toronto Raptors. He is a two-time NBA All-Star, won an Olympic gold medal for Argentina and is a former Euroleague MVP.

Ginobili averaged 9.8 points and 20 minutes a game for the Spurs last season. Don't expect news until July, probably.
