The win puts Chelsea at the top of the table after just two matches in the Premier League but there are encouraging signs that the team are implementing Maurizio Sarri's ideas in west London.

The end result left Emery facing up to a second successive defeat as Arsenal boss, he insisted he needs time to find solutions to the problems he has inherited from his predecessor Arsene Wenger. We have to improve in the defensive phase, and I'm not talking about only the defenders.

I can't say a wrong thing about that.

'That is clear. He is a great player.

But still, it is important to make a positive start at a new job and Sarri has bought himself crucial time by guiding his new team to six points from six in their first two games.

The Italian has cautioned against expecting Chelsea to challenge for the title this season, but a top-four finish is certainly within their reach if they continue to perform as they have done so far.

Hajj set to begin amid Qatar-Saudi tensions and Egypt's economic woes
Meanwhile, hundreds of Nigerian pilgrims have begun movement to Mina tents where they are expected to continue the Hajj rites. Najwa, 59, from Tunisia, said: "I came for Umrah in 2007 and today after 10 years of registering and waiting, I am here".

When you can call Eden Hazard from the substitutes' bench, or replace Alvaro Morata with Olivier Giroud in the closing stages, it is an example of the depth that Sarri has at Chelsea, however.

"I have spoken with him very often in the last 10 days", Sarri said. "We lost distances, I think".

"But I think that, at this moment, he's not able to play for 90 minutes, so I thought it was better to give him 25-30 minutes when the intensity of the match has come down". "Unfortunately we weren't able to take all our chances".

"We have to improve because we did really well in the first 25 minutes today, but we need to continue to press in the other half".

"Not in this moment", said Sarri, who bemoaned a "horrible" final 15 minutes of the first-half that saw Chelsea throw away their advantage. I think he's the kind of manager who wants to have control on the ball. But, at the other moments, when we are not able to press in the other half, we are in trouble. But he said Hazard would probably be ready to play 90 minutes within one or two weeks.
