With the Royal Wedding now in the rearview mirror, Prince Harry and Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle are taking the next big step in their marriage: They're adopting a dog.

Meghan spoke about both of her dogs during a televised interview after they announced their engagement, explaining: 'Well I have two dogs that I've had for quite a long time, both my rescue pups.

People magazine reports the royals have a new dog, a Lab they've owned since early summer.

It also comes as no surprise that the dogs will split their time between London and the Cotswolds.

The new dog has joined Meghan's beagle Guy, who was at her feet when she was groomed for her wedding.

It is rumoured that Harry and Meghan will briefly visit the USA, after their royal tour of Australia and New Zealand in October. The two are very close friends having worked together previously in Africa, on behalf of the FA and the Queen's Young Leaders Awards.

"This relationship is going to be played out their entire life and I just hope that she can find a way through it".

Mr Fitzwilliams' comments come after Prince Harry came under fire from Princess Diana's former bodyguard Ken Wharfe for not doing enough to warn Mr Markle about the press intrusion he would suffer.

Meghan and Harry wouldn't be allowed to visit Thomas at his home due to the security risks, so if he wants to meet them, Thomas would likely have to make the journey to the east coast. "The Palace is at a loss of what to do and is re-evaluating options, including a more aggressive strategy to stem the embarrassment caused by Meghan's dad, half-sister and half-brother".
