Metro is no longer considering running separate trains for protesters participating in the August 12 "Unite the Right" white nationalists rally in the District, the transit agency's board chairman said Saturday.

Amalgamated Transit Union Local 689, Metro's largest union, has learned from sources that Metro will be providing private rail cars for the "Unite the Right" rally. Evans had said that Metro was simply exploring every option to prevent violence between rally participants and counterprotesters.

"We're not trying to give anyone special treatment", Metro Board Chairman Jack Evans told The Washington Post on Friday. Possible solutions include having Unite The Right protesters gather at East Falls Church Metro station and from there take designated train cars to Foggy Bottom and receive a police escort to the rally.

"We draw the line at giving special accommodation to hate groups and hate speech. we find it hypocritical.to make these unprecedented special accommodations for a hate group".

Following the allegations that Unite the Right is definitively receiving special transit accommodations devoted just to them, Metro released a statement regarding the security plans that have not-yet been set in stone.

"As we do for all events of this nature, Metro is working collaboratively with law enforcement to ensure safe travel for our customers and employees".

He said he had never seen Tibbetts before, because he didn't venture into the Brooklyn area, which is several miles from his home. Farmer Wayne Cheney was questioned by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, who asked to search his property.

"More than 80% of Local 689's membership is people of color, the very people that the Ku Klux Klan and other white nationalist groups have killed, harassed and violated".

Evans said on Saturday that the plan was "never under consideration", but told NBC Washington on Friday that, "We'd like to keep the groups separate".

During the rally, a white supremacist, 21-year-old James Fields Jr., rammed his vehicle into a crowd of counter-protesters, killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer.

That rally saw a man who was linked to the group ram his vehicle into a group of people killing one woman, and injuring several others.

The rally is being led by the same people that led the deadly demonstration of the same name past year in Charlottesville.
