Microsoft announces upcoming AI capabilities for OneDrive and SharePoint

The coming improvements and new capabilities, which are aimed at helping users increase their productivity while keeping their content more secure, were announced in an August 28 post on the Microsoft 365 Blog by Omar Shahine, the partner director of program management for OneDrive and SharePoint.

Microsoft spreading some more artificial intelligence love to its products, announcing it will add automated video and audio transcription capabilities to OneDrive for Business. While not every video or audio file needs to be transcribed, this functionality does make discoverability of content inside of these mediums significantly easier to locate. As well, users will soon be able to leverage the AI capabilities for searching through images, videos, and audio.

That's right, after announcing intelligent search for images a year ago, Microsoft is announcing today that it will also use AI for analyzing what's in your video and audio files stored in OneDrive and Sharepoint. Microsoft first announced the feature last September, revealing that users will be able to, for example, search for text to retrieve images featuring documents containing the text.

Emmy Rossum reveals she's leaving 'Shameless' after season 9
I never had a big family. "This business is always an adventure, full of travel and opportunities to tell stories", she wrote . The news of her exit comes after it was announced that Friends alum Courteney Cox will be joining the show for season nine.

Also "later this year", Microsoft will introduce a new files view to OneDrive and the home page that will make recommendations about relevant files. Most of these features are arriving later this year, but Redmond is giving us an early look at what's to expect. On the other hand, the OneDrive mobile app will also get an Intelligent Sharing feature that will use your Outlook calendar to suggest you to share picture and other documents created during a meeting with other attendees.

The native automatic transcription support will be available to users later this year. The file suggestions will be generated using Microsoft Graph, which will recognize who users work with often, how users work and who they share content with across Microsoft 365. This file card provides access statistics for files stored in OneDrive and SharePoint, and allows users to see who looked at a file and what they've done with the file. "This type of real-world intelligence allows you to quickly keep everyone informed and move on to your next task and is exclusively available when you store your content in OneDrive and SharePoint". Since these services are powered by Microsoft Azure, you can get sentiment analysis, key word extraction, and even custom image recognition-all while keeping your content secure in the Microsoft Cloud and away from potentially costly and insecure third-party services. Additionally, you can use information provided by these cognitive services to set up custom workflows to organize images, trigger notifications, or invoke more extensive business processes directly in OneDrive and SharePoint with deep integration to Microsoft Flow. The service also features a search bar in which users can use keywords to find precise moments in the content.
