According to the Centers for Disease Control, "Romaine lettuce from the same lot that was positive for cyclospora was distributed in pre-made salads and wraps distributed by Caito Foods LLC of Indianapolis".

Last week, the US Food and Drug Administration issued a statement confirming 395 illnesses. At least 20 people have been hospitalized, and no deaths have been reported.

The outbreak involves Fresh Express items used in the McDonald's salads that were contaminated with the parasite Cyclospora.

Most people infected with Cyclospora develop diarrhea, but other symptoms can occur, including weight loss, loss of appetite, bloating, increased gas, nausea, fatigue, vomiting, fever, and abdominal cramps. The illness is treated with antibiotics.

This isn't the first time this summer Americans have gotten ill from greens. After stopping selling salads at 3,000 stores in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana and West Virginia, McDonald's has switched suppliers and resumed salad sales at those stores. Connecticut, Tennessee and Virginia residents bought salads while in IL.

Unseeded Cornet upsets Kerber at Rogers Cup
It marked the second straight time that Cornet prevailed against Kerber after losing their first three matchups. She eventually left the court in a wheelchair, waving to the crowd as it rose to give her a standing ovation.

"Epidemiologic evidence indicates that salads purchased from McDonald's restaurants are one likely source of these infections".

A total of 436 people have been sickened, the CDC said in its most recent update.

This parasite may have also spread to meats sold in restaurants like Trader Joes, Walgreens and Kroger from July 18 to July 23, according to Business Insider and the United States Department of Agriculture.

In a recall statement on the Fresh Express website, the company said it had launched a "precautionary recall" of the institutional food service product on July 27 of a "limited number of cases". Fresh Express was not identified as the salad mix supplier until August 1. And the problem traces back to romaine lettuce and carrots.
