New quake strikes Lombok island

The quake killed more than 100 people in Lombok and injured hundreds of others, leaving thousands of locals homeless and tourists stranded.

It's the third big quake to hit Lombok in little over a week.

Indonesia's national disaster agency has the official figure at 131 following the 7.0 magnitude quake which struck the north of the island - and also caused fatalities in neighbouring Bali.

The latest quake was felt strongly on the island and followed a 6.9 quake on Sunday that killed at least 164 people and damaged thousands of houses.

Nguroho said in statement that the death toll will continue to rise because rescue workers are still finding victims in the ruins of collapsed buildings and some people who are already buried are not yet included in the official toll.

Local authorities, global relief groups and the central government have begun organizing aid, but shattered roads have slowed efforts to reach survivors in the mountainous north and east of Lombok, which bore the brunt of the quake.

The actor went on to explain in his post that people have told him and his parents for most of his life that he was too thin. Grant Gustin is not cool with people criticizing his new look on The Flash or his overall slim physique, for that matter.

Officials said the quake's epicentre was on land and so there was no risk of a tsunami. Some villages have collapsed entirely.

A witness told Reuters the aftershock sent people into the streets in panic and caused buildings to collapse.

The island was still recovering after two other recent earthquakes when the tremor happened.

Authorities are still searching through the rubble left behind on Lombok Island, still hoping to find survivors. The announcement came after an inter-agency meeting was called to resolve wildly different figures from different agencies. "Some paramedics have to be at the shelters, some need to be mobile", Majdi told AFP.

Other evacuees said they were subsisting on a diet of instant noodles and needed clean water and bedding.

One aid agency, Yayasan Plan International Indonesia, has warned that thousands of children have been left homeless, forced to sleep in open fields without warm clothing or blankets.
