Senior officials in the military chain of command should be investigated and prosecuted for genocide, according to a report by a United Nations fact-finding mission published earlier this week.

He said the rules regulating the prize don't allow the committee to withdraw a prize once it has been awarded.

A council set up by the Myanmar government cleared the military of any wrongdoing.

The Myanmar government has bluntly rejected the UN's findings.

Since the operation began a year ago, tens of thousands of Rohingya Muslims have died and 700,000 have fled.

He said there was no need for Kyi to act as a spokesperson for the Burmese military, referring to her comments describing anti-Rohingya violence as an "iceberg of misinformation".

Now she's become notorious as the woman who refused to speak out against the military campaign on the Muslim minority.
