North Korea Gets Illegal Oil, Enlists Syria Arms Broker

Russia allows entry of thousands of North Korean workers report

Haley's remarks became public hours after the Treasury Department sanctioned a Russian bank for violating sanctions against North Korea.

With Ali acting as a go-between, a "protocol of cooperation" between Yemen's Huthi rebels and North Korea was negotiated in 2016 in Damascus that provided for a "vast array of military equipment". The bank held, processed and transferred millions of dollars for North Korea, despite sanctions which are meant to isolate it economically.

This year, USA officials said, Agrosoyuz allowed a North Korean front company to invest nearly $2.5 million in Russian rubles into one of its accounts. By 2018, the bank had allowed one front company to invest almost $2.5 million in Russian rubles in an account. The US government also imposed sanctions against the FTB's deputy representative, Ri Jong Won.

"It is estimated that North Korean labourers in Russian Federation send between $150-$300 million annually to Pyongyang", a U.S. State Department spokesperson said.

He stressed that it was important to maintain "diplomatic and economic pressure" on North Korea to achieve "the final, fully verified denuclearisation".

The United States on Friday, August 3, slapped sanctions on a Russian bank for helping North Korea evade UN Security Council measures created to curb Pyongyang's nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs.

But some analysts have voiced concern that the country may not have real intentions to disarm.

The report also said North Korea has continued military cooperation with Syria, in breach of United Nations sanctions.

Carbon price plan could be changed again
A spokeswoman for Environment Minister Catherine McKenna confirmed the move to CTV News following a report in the Globe and Mail. He reiterated that Ottawa's carbon tax policy is flawed and won't work in Canada if it hasn't worked around the world.

Questions have arisen over Pyongyang's commitment to give up its nuclear program after US spy satellite material detected renewed activity at the factory that produced North Korea's first intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of reaching the United States.

Unnamed US officials told the Washington Post that spy satellites had spotted continuing activity at a site that has produced ballistic missiles.

USA officials also told NBC that North Korea increased its fuel for nuclear weapons at several secret sites.

North Koreans in Russian Federation often work six or more days a week and live in cramped construction wagons or dormitories under under close guard.

Ambassador Nikki Haley issued the criticism one day after the Wall Street Journal reported that Moscow granted thousands of new work permits to North Korean laborers in violations of United Nations sanctions.

In a letter to Trump on Friday, Republican senators Cory Gardner, Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio and Dan Sullivan urged the administration to tighten sanctions.

On Thursday, Sen. Cory Gardner said he was putting forth a bipartisan sanctions package with Sens.

It also designated what it said were two FTB front companies, China-based Dandong Zhongsheng Industry & Trade Co Ltd and Korea Ungum Corporation, which is based in North Korea.
