So those are the cards, which usher in what looks to be quite a hike in performance over the 10-series GeForce cards. That may be overstating things a bit - especially given that Nvidia's own USA website jumped the gun by posting photos, specs and pricing details before the official announcement. This GPU is based on Nvidia's new Turing architecture and is created to succeed the popular GTX 1080.

Nvidia showcased a handful of demos from games with RTX support, from Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Battlefield V and Metro: Exodus.

Nvidia launched a new lineup of graphics cards at an event in Germany on Monday. The reference graphics card for the RTX 2080 comes with a boost clock of 1710 MHz.

Both cards will come with a trio of DisplayPort 1.4 connectors, a single HDMI 2.0b jack, and a USB Type-C connector with VirtualLink support. That's something in the region of an eight-fold improvement. We get to see much more than "only" real-time ray tracing however, with incredibly detailed vegetation and landscapes, gorgeous physical destruction and HDR lighting. While most would expect a 2080 Ti to achieve at least a steady 60 FPS at 4K resolution, in this demo it doesn't even approach those sort of steady frames at 1080P. Where it is not good, but it was to be expected, it is the level of the rates.

What makes the RTX cards special is Nvidia's new Turing architecture, which can render light and shadow effects, or what's called "ray tracing", more realistically than other graphics cards. You'll also need two 8-pin power connectors to run the card, and NVIDIA recommends a 650-watt power supply. "Once you see an RTX game, you can't go back". Unfortunately, a lot of them can only be purchased as a bundle with other hardware.

Lawsuit: Verizon Slowed Firefighters’ Internet During Wildfire
Buss eventually suggested a $99 plan that would charge the fire department $8 per gigabyte after 20GB had been used. Ars Technica earlier reported on the allegations against Verizon by fire department in Santa Clara, Califorina.

All XOTIC PC desktops with the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards can be custom built to preorder now!. "Now, thanks to NVIDIA RTX technology, we are pleased to announce that Shadow of the Tomb Raider will, quite fittingly, feature real-time shadows".

Of course, for users the main question is when the cards themselves will be available.

Turing is said to reach 2GHz clock speeds with a bit of overclocking, with that factored in the RTX 2070 could very well end up being a bargain GTX 1080 Ti once overclocked.

The Founder's Edition cards will cost a little more than this, but these basic prices are a pretty decent starting point for a hugely powerful card that will clearly last you years.
