A spokesperson for Pacific Union revealed all of the passengers on the aircraft were employees of the real estate company.

"Unfortunately, it was tragic that five people died on the plane".

The crash occurred in the parking lot of a shopping complex that includes Staples, a CVS drug store and a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant.

Chilling dashcam footage captures the aircraft free-falling from the sky as shocked onlookers gasp in horror.

The Cessna 414 is registered to an owner in San Francisco, according to Federal Aviation Administration records.

The crash site is a little more than a mile away from John Wayne Airport.

The annual event, which was founded in 2007 by beer enthusiast Jesse Avshalomov, takes place on the first Friday of every August. One of the purposes of celebrating International Beer Day is to appreciate those responsible for brewing and serving beer.

All of the victims, none of whom were immediately identified, were aboard the twin-engine Cessna when it went down at about 12:30 p.m. (3:30 p.m. ET) as it was headed for an emergency landing at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana.

The Orange County Fire Authority said fire and rescue units were sent to a the 3900 block of Bristol Street for a report of a plane down.

The plane also hit a vehicle (pictured), but no one was reported injured.

Investigators from the FAA and NTSB are trying to determine what caused the crash.
