A longtime physician to Queen Elizabeth II was killed while riding his bike to work in the British capital, local media reported Thursday.

University College London Hospital Medical Director, Dr Gill Gaskin, said: "Peter was a highly regarded colleague and friend of many at the RLHIM".

Peter Fisher, 67, collided with a truck Wednesday as he made his way to his office at the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine in Bloomsbury.

The hospital said he "was committed to holistic and compassionate care for his patients". "We are all shocked by his tragic loss", Marcus Setchell, the queen's former surgeon-gynaecologist, told the Standard.

He said: "A graduate of Cambridge University and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and the Faculty of Homeopathy, he was a widely published expert in rheumatology and forms of complementary and alternative medicine".

Metropolitan Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident, which they responded to along with the London Ambulance Service and an air ambulance at 9:30am in High Holborn on Wednesday, August 15.

"He will be greatly missed by his colleagues and patients alike". According to the BBC the crash was still being investigated, and the truck driver had not been taken into police custody as of Thursday morning. Safety campaigners say four cyclists have been killed in the past five years near where Fisher died.
