Donald Trump Supporter Arrested For 14 Alleged Death Threats To Newspaper Office

The call came the same day the Boston newspaper published a full-page editorial appealing to newspapers across the country to condemn Mr. Trump's constant attacks on the press. What are you going to do motherf*cker?

The front of Robert Chain's house in the Encino section of Los Angeles.

Records obtained by the Federal Bureau of Investigation show Chain owned several firearms, including a newly purchased 9 mm carbine rifle.

Prosecutors say Robert Chain, 68, called journalists "the enemy of the people" in a series of threatening phone calls that echoed the same words Trump has used to criticise unflattering news coverage through his campaign and years in office.

In his first phone call on August 16, Chain told a Globe employee, "You're the enemy of the people, and we're going to kill every [expletive] one of you". Numerous calls Chain made to the newspaper were recorded, the criminal complaint alleges. "Anyone - regardless of political affiliation - who puts others in fear for their lives will be prosecuted by this office".

The complaint says Chain called several times between August 10 and August 22. You ain't going to do s***.

Argentina’s Central Bank Lifts Policy Rate to 60%
Dujovne said he would travel to Washington on Monday evening to discuss the policies with the IMF's technical staff. Argentina has US$24.9 billion in peso and foreign currency denominated debt payments next year.

"You're the enemy of the people, and we're going to kill every fucking one of you". Prosecutors charged him on Thursday with making threats in interstate communications.

On Aug. 16, the Globe published its own editorial saying a "central pillar of President Trump's politics is a sustained assault on the free press. which has unsafe consequences".

It was not immediately clear if Chain has an attorney.

The editorials inspired by the Globe drew attention to animosity toward the news media that has been fanned by Trump, who has referred to the press as the "enemy of the people" and has frequently claimed it is creating "fake news".

An Encino man was arrested this morning after alleged threats to kill journalists at the Boston Globe back in August. If convicted he could face up to 5 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

Ever since he took office, Trump has been attacking the press like a dictator, calling them liars and "the enemy of the people". All threats are taken seriously, as we never know if the subject behind the threat intends to follow through with their actions. That threat prompted a police response and increased security at the newspaper's offices. Chain allegedly made "approximately 14 threatening phone calls to the Globe between August 10 and August 22, 2018", The Globe writes in its own report on the crime against them. Its sister newspaper, the Los Angeles Times, and other prominent outlets like the San Francisco Chronicle, The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal did not participate.
