Ruby Rose Makes History After Being Cast As Batwoman, The First Lesbian TV Superhero

"I feel like the reason I keep getting so emotional is because, you know, growing up watching TV, I never saw somebody on TV that I could identify with, let alone a superhero, you know", Rose explained before taking a moment to regain her composure. "I've always had this saying - well, not me, Oscar Wilde - but same thing".

The TV network is working on adding Batwoman to its annual crossover special of shows like The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl.

Batwoman was later reimagined as a Jewish lesbian, now known as Kate Kane, in 2006.

The actress explained that she just found out she won the part of the lesbian superhero on Monday night, just before she was supposed to walk the red carpet for the premiere of "The Meg".

Ruby Rose has made history by being cast as Batwoman, the first openly gay superhero to headline a TV series. Rose shared her big news in an emotional Instagram post. "Thank you everyone. Thank you god".

Eh... it looks like Kris Jenner is engaged to Corey Gamble
Jenner previously gushed about her boo in an interview with Us Weekly , dishing on how Gamble has become a fixture in her big, famous fam.

Prolific producer Greg Berlanti - who has overseen numerous CW shows, as well as hit film Love, Simon - will executive produce the new show.

The Australian has also appeared as an assassin and bodyguard in the John Wick series of action movies, and plays Jaxx Herd in the science-fiction horror movie The Meg released on Thursday. Rose even revealed two real-life connections to Batwoman: her mother kept bats inside the house - "she nursed these little pet bats back to life, but then they couldn't go anywhere because they were domesticated" - and Rose used to make batwings out of cardboard boxes and pretend to fly around the house.

"I know a lot of people don't understand that, but I know a few of you do".

The story will focus on Kate Kane, a young woman who says exactly what she thinks, and is motivated by an ardent desire for justice.
