Sennheiser just unveiled its first-ever truly wireless earbuds

Sennheiser Momentum Wireless

At IFA 2018, held in Berlin from August 31 to September 5, the audio specialist brings the MOMENTUM ethos to an exceptional new product, the MOMENTUM True Wireless: these exquisitely crafted Bluetooth earphones set new standards for audio quality, with characteristic MOMENTUM style and comfort.

Nearly two years after Apple unveiled the AirPods, Sennheiser is out with its own wireless earbuds competitor - the Momentum True Wireless earbuds. Now the new Momentum True Wireless earphones are joining the line, with an expected ship date of mid-November. Sennheiser has used gold-plating for the charging pins and magnets, too.

On the wireless side, Sennheiser is using Qualcomm aptX and supports the AAC codec. Plus, iOS and Android users alike can take control of customization by installing the Sennheiser Smart Control app. The charging case needs to be charged via a USB-C cable.

Listeners can command Siri or Google Assistant via touch controls found on the metallic spin ring. There's also a Transparent Hearing feature, which effectively blends some ambient noise piped in from the microphones to whatever music or other audio is being streamed. This allows you to keep the earbuds in while you pay attention to your environment and interact with conversations. The Momentum True Wireless earbuds will be priced at $299.95, a healthy premium over the Apple AirPods and, indeed, most other fully wireless options we've seen from rivals.

Their 4 hours of battery life doesn't quite measure up to the AirPods' or Jabra Elite 65t's battery life, but the included fabric-wrapped case delivers two additional charges.
