The Streets of Rage series holds a special place in some people's hearts.

This morning, Dotemu, still riding high off of its recent announcement of Windjammers 2 last week, confirmed that it was working alongside Sega on Streets of Rage 4, which is now in development at Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games.

The other main take away is that series regulars Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding are both already confirmed for the sequel, although we're willing to bet other familiar faces will also be making an appearance. At one point, this was the unbeatable side-scrolling beat-em-up game, even putting Final Fight on notice with its brilliant brawling tactics and awesome Yuzo Koshiro soundtracks. The game will be developed by Lizardcube, Guard Crush Games and Dotemu, and its debut trailers has been released (featuring small doses of gameplay footage).

Stay tuned for more on Streets of Rage 4, including (fingers crossed) a confirmation for consoles.

Asia Argento Fired from 'X Factor Italy' After Sexual Assault Allegations
In an ironic twist, Variety reports that Argento's ex-husband, Italian pop singer Morgan , is her likely replacement. A growing number of Italians had taken to social media demanding that Argento be pulled from the show.

Platforms are now unconfirmed, but given that Wonder Boy appeared on the Switch, the chances of a Nintendo version are good.

Developed in conjunction with Guard Crush Games, Streets of Rage 4 boasts a stunning hand-drawn visual style and will build on the gameplay seen in the original trilogy on the Mega Drive.

A genuine bank holiday miracle has occurred: a new Streets Of Rage is on its way from the makers of Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap.
