The highly-anticipated showdown between the two legends will take place in November at the Shadow Creek Golf Course.

The wobbly dates of November 23 or November 24 have now been set for a clash of the two titans - box office-wise, at least - fittingly on the greens of Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas, The Washington Post reported.

There is no PGA Tour event scheduled that weekend, which is the first six straight weeks golfers have off from mid-November to early January.

Last month, it emerged the two golfing greats had agreed to play a round of golf one-on-one for what has been reported to be a $10 million purse for the victor. They have been rivals dating back to their days in Southern California junior golf, but their relationship has evolved over the decades.

The Ryder Cup is September 28-30, and any match that takes place between Woods and Mickelson would not occur prior to then.

Mickelson told Golf.com in July that he was negotiating with Woods for the winner-take-all bout.

Woods is now -2 in the first round of the WGC event at Firestone, returning to the course to compete for the first time in four years, having previously won this tournament on eight occasions.

Woods, who serves on the US Ryder Cup committee with Mickelson, sounded like he was up for it.

Woods, 42, has thrilled golf fans in his return to action this season, recently placing T6 at the 2018 Open Championship, his first top 10 at a major since 2013.

While details of the match are yet to be finalised, Mickelson was quoted after his opening round at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Thursday as confirming the time and place of the spectacle.
