The 23-year-old woman was struck by a garbage truck near Central Park on Friday afternoon, after she was forced to swerve to avoid a vehicle pulling into the bicycle lane, they said.

Lyden swerved to avoid it, police say, but she was then hit by a truck.

United States network NBC reported a friend and passers-by delivered first aid but she was pronounced dead at the hospital she was taken to.
