Trump launches petition for 'spineless' ESPN to show national anthem

"On occasion, we've covered the national anthem, but our plans aren't finalized yet as we have an earlier kickoff time in 2018", the spokesperson wrote in an email, referencing the fact that the network's Sunday night games will start 10 minutes earlier than past year. It's hard to tell exactly what's going to happen this weekend, but we do know that President Trump and his allies will be keeping a very close eye on the knees of National Football League players and where they end up during the Star-Spangled Banner before every game.

Trump said that this was "spineless surrender to the politically correct liberal mob". He blasted ESPN during a rally in West Virginia last night.

"We generally have not broadcasted the anthem and I don't think that will change this year", Pitaro said.

"It's somewhat unpredictable what's going to happen in the world but as of now our plan now is to not broadcast the anthem".

Pitaro did note that his stance on the issue could change, so it remains to be seen if Trump's comments will impact ESPN's policy.

Trump assails Mueller following Times report
Trump reportedly tried to get Jeff Sessions involved in the Russian Federation investigation and contemplated firing Mueller. The paper said McGahn was motivated in part by fear that the president might set him up to be held responsible.

"A CBS Sports spokesperson told USA TODAY Sports this week that it also does not plan to televise the playing of The Star-Spangled Banner as part of its weekly National Football League broadcasts, which is the same approach it has taken in recent years".

"If "America" is too offensive for anyone in our country, then what are they doing in America?"

It was the first person to sign this petition. USA Today reports that Trump sent an email to supporters announcing the petition, which he says he has signed. "They have not asked but as courtesy and good partners we have let them know what our plans are". FOX plans to only show the anthem during "special broadcasts" such as Veteran's Day or Thanksgiving and during the playoffs, while NBC Sports broadcasts plans are still undetermined. "Now I need you to follow my lead and be the second". Still, the topic lingers, as now Trump has decided that it is ESPN's duty to defend the national anthem against the one or two players who allegedly disrespect it.

ESPN is not alone in declining to air the national anthem. Trump, who has painted NFL players who don't stand for the national anthem as un-American and unpatriotic, used Tuesday night's platform to continue that crusade.
