Trump urges end to Russian Federation probe as Manafort trial enters second day

Trump has repeatedly belittled the probe as "a hoax", as those close to him suggest he feels that any talk of Russian interference tarnishes his electoral victory and delegitimizes his presidency.

President Donald Trump called on Attorney General Jeff Sessions Wednesday to shut down special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 us election.

"This is a awful situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further", Trump said. "Bob Mueller is totally conflicted, and his 17 Angry Democrats that are doing his dirty work are a disgrace to US!"

Donald Trump has held a rally in Tampa, Florida, where he campaigned for several Republican candidates running in the upcoming midterms. "The president should not be talking about the investigation at all". Sarah Isgur Flores, a spokeswoman for the Justice Department, declined to comment.

The comments come after The New York Times published a 20-page letter to special counsel Robert Mueller by Trump attorney Jay Sekulow and then-Trump lawyer John Dowd. Earlier this year, Trump blindsided the Defense Department when he tweeted out a transgender ban for the military, prompting the Pentagon to slow walk the program.

"This is an attempt to obstruct justice hiding in plain sight", tweeted Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee. Mueller is also probing whether Trump or anyone on his campaign coordinated with Moscow and whether there were any attempts by the president to obstruct justice. "America must never accept it". "Congress must protect Mueller". The measure won bipartisan support from the Senate Judiciary Committee in April, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said it won't get consideration by the full Senate.

Trump also said that Mueller is "totally conflicted".

Google reportedly plans to release a censored search app in China
It is now expected that Google will launch in China within the next nine months if the Chinese government allows it. The Great Firewall has meant that Google Search isn't accessible from within China.

The first trial arising from the investigation opened Tuesday with prosecutors accusing Manafort of hiding from United States tax authorities millions of dollars from past lobbying work for the pro-Russia president of Ukraine, and failing to report his foreign bank accounts.

In court on Wednesday, prosecutor Greg Andres asked Rabin, who produced TV ads for Manafort in Ukraine, about Rick Gates, Manafort's former business partner who is expected to be a star government witness, and Manafort associate Konstantin Kilimnik. He did not take questions or address the president's tweet.

Mueller was appointed by the Justice Department's No. 2 official previous year to take over the FBI's Russian investigation after Sessions recused himself from the probe because of his own meetings with Russia's ambassador to Washington while serving as a campaign adviser to Trump. The probe has yet to produce evidence of the Trump campaigns collusion with Russian Federation.

Trump has said that he regretted appointing Sessions because Sessions recused himself from matters relating to the Mueller inquiry. Trump has periodically launched barrages of public attacks on Sessions related to the special counsel's investigation.

Trump frequently rages on Twitter about the Mueller investigation, which the president calls a "witch hunt".

In any case, Sessions recused himself from the investigation in March 2017 and does not have the power to stop it.
