'Truth isn't truth': Bizarre Giuliani quote sends Twitter into frenzy

When the meeting between Kremlin-connected lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya and Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort first came to light, the campaign claimed it was just to discuss Russian adoptions.

Giuliani's exchange with host Chuck Todd produced an odd back-and-forth on the meaning of truth in the context of the Russian Federation investigation. "Truth isn't truth", the former NY mayor said, suggesting that it isn't possible for the Mueller probe to determine whether the president's campaign colluded with Russian Federation and whether Trump has obstructed justice.

Giuliani expressed concerns about a potential perjury trap to anchor Chuck Todd, saying, "And when you tell me that he should testify because he's going to tell the truth and he shouldn't worry, well that's so silly because that's somebody's version of the truth, not the truth".

"Don't do this to me", Giuliani says, as he grabs his forehead.

In the same interview, Giuliani told Todd that he does not want the president to rush to testify to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigative team for fear that he'll be "trapped into perjury".

The "truth is relative", he told The Washington Post in May. "We have plenty of credibility", Giuliani snapped. "You're in a place where you know your client is in a lot of trouble because we know there is a truth and when two witnesses tell different stories in an investigation, the job is to look at evidence that corroborates one version or the other".

Trump's legal team is still weighing up whether to allow the president to be interviewed by the special counsel.

"Truth is truth", Todd pointed out.

"She is a private citizen", Giuliani said. "All they had was her name".

He just sat back, still bearing a broad grin, and let the new bad meme soar into the digital firmament. "It is a week and a half later and they have not responded to our letter". The meeting was meant to get dirt on Hillary Clinton from a Kremlin lawyer.
