The tweets were deleted by the InfoWars staff, according to Jones, as a way to "take the super high road".

Now, even though it admits that is not the case, Twitter said that it would've asked for the offending tweets to be deleted, and that has already happened. He did, however, contend that the tweets were not violations of Twitter rules. The specific tweets that allegedly violated the rules were not revealed.

CNN's Oliver Darcy looked into that and found that content that got Jones disciplined elsewhere also appeared on Twitter.

Previously, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey had maintained that Jones and InfoWars had not "violated our rules".

It lead the Portuguese to vent his feelings after the final whistle at Old Trafford and reiterate his warning for the new season. He lasted 84 minutes before being replaced by Marouane Fellaini, with Mourinho describing his captain as a "monster".

In a blog post, Facebook said the decision was a result of a review of "more content from the same Pages", that prompted the action.

Twitter has come under scrutiny this week after not banning Alex Jones after multiple other websites took action against the conspiracy-spreading Infowars host.

Twitter is one of the only major social media companies that has not scrubbed its platform of Jones or InfoWars in the last week. After his reporting calling out numerous tweets from Jones, the tweets were all taken down (Twitter denied anyone from the company did so). He had vowed, "We'll enforce if he does".

The Twitter spokesperson said Friday that the executive, Del Harvey, had only meant to specifically reference Jones' personal account, not the InfoWars account as well, and that the company should have "been more explicit about that".
