Chris Pratt's Cowboy Ninja Viking Delayed Indefinitely

Cowboy Ninja Viking has stalled on the runway as Universal pulls the movie's 2019 release date.

According to Collider, the film - which was to have kicked off shooting in a month - is reportedly headed back into development to work out script issues, with backers Universal unwilling to rush to meet a 2019 release date.

Collider first reported that the studio had removed the Pratt vehicle from its upcoming release schedule, while noting that the project is still in development and other talent, like Game of Thrones director Michelle MacLaren, are still attached. He already has Jurassic World with Universal, which released Fallen Kingdom this summer to huge box office numbers. As for Chopra, her future with the film remains unclear.

Despite having one of the biggest movie stars on the planet at the moment, who is now headlining two franchises in Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, Cowboy Ninja Viking has been delayed by Universal for an unspecified amount of time.

Cowboy Ninja Viking, based off of the Image Comics series of the same name, would star Pratt as Duncan, a man with multiple personality disorder who is recruited by a secret government program. Fans will remember that MacLaren was originally going to make her feature directorial debut with last year's Wonder Woman before she left over creative differences. She recently directed HBO's The Deuce pilot episode. Craig Mazin wrote an earlier draft of the screenplay with an original version by "Deadpool" writers Paul Wernick and Everett David Reese. Guymon Casady, Ben Forkner and Mark Gordon are producing this unique take on the comic book genre. With Cowboy Ninja Viking stalled for the time being, he is also waiting to hear who the new director of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will be. This was before he was the [Cowboy Ninja Viking] we know.
