Mexico says its bilateral NAFTA talks with U.S. to drag into next week

Mexico's Economy Minister said on Friday that bilateral talks with the United States over the future of the NAFTA trade deal will drag into next week, and the timing of Canada's return to the negotiations will depend on how fast they resolve issues. He described the newly elected Mexican president as "an absolute gentleman". "And then the idea will be can we get a big trade deal prior to [Donald Trump's] next election" in 2020, Farley said.

Trump added that Canada "must wait" to rejoin the NAFTA talks.

President Trump on Friday threatened tariffs on Canadian-made cars if USA officials can't strike a deal with the country on overhauling the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Trump went on to warn that he would tax Canadian auto exports if Washington and Ottawa could not arrive at a deal.

Adam Austen, a spokesman for Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, who is leading NAFTA trade talks for Canada, said the minister was in regular contact with her Mexican and USA counterparts.

Leicester have slapped an £80m price tag on the 25-year-old but United may be forced to overpay as they grow more desperate. United are hoping to build on last season's second-placed finish and win their first league title since 2013.

"We're glad Mexico and the USA continue to work out their bilateral issues".

"But as I said before: nothing is closed until everything is closed".

However, if the US and Mexico can resolve their bilateral differences early next week, the source says Canada's team - possibly including Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland - could rejoin negotiations later in the week.

Before he entered the meeting, Guajardo said Mexico was getting close to overcoming sticking points with the United States.
