Using Electronic Cigarettes Can Damage DNA

Another study revealed that e-cigarettes are not safe, as it found that vaping may damage a person's DNA and result in the development of cancer. "It's quite clear there are chemicals in aerosol people inhale when they vape that are carcinogenic, but whether they're going to cause cancer and to what degree is something we don't know". While e-cigarettes are generally considered safer than traditional cigarettes, are they really safe enough?

According to a 2016 U.S. Surgeon General report, 13.5% of middle school students, 37.7% of high school students and 35.8% of young adults (18 to 24 years of age) have smoked e-cigarettes, compared with 16.4% of older adults (25 years and up).

Although this process avoids numerous toxic byproducts of smoking, vape fluids contain a myriad of solvents, preservatives, and flavoring agents that have dubious safety profiles when altered by high heat and consumed in this manner.

Basically e-cigarettes are portable electronic devices that heats up the liquid present in them. They also want to see how the level of toxic chemicals differs between e-cigarette users and regular cigarette smokers. Researchers collected saliva samples from people before and after 15 minutes of vaping.

Ronaldo says decision easy to join Juventus
Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival will not make Juventus certain to win the Serie A title, Napoli midfielder Allan has warned. But that is of course a dream, to see my boy a football player", he admitted.

The saliva of a small group of e-cigarette users contained increased levels of three DNA-damaging compounds, the researchers said. Our DNA can fix these mutations on its own, but if the mutation survives when the cell divides, it can lead to cancer. He stated that the researchers wanted to distinguish the chemicals that vapers are exposed to in addition to any damage to the DNA they may cause.

The participants provided saliva from before a session using e-cigarettes as well as samples from after. The exposures are completely different. If cells are unable to fix the damage to allow the DNA to replicate normally, there is a chance that cancer will develop.

The researchers plan to follow up this preliminary study with a larger one involving more e-cigarette users and controls. "We still don't know exactly what these e-cigarette devices are doing and what kinds of effects they may have on health, but our findings suggest that a closer look is warranted". In June, a study in the journal Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology reported that chemical flavorings in e-cigarettes harm the cells of blood vessels in a way that could trigger future heart damage.
