A great white shark was also spotted close to shore in the waters off Wellfleet Monday afternoon, prompting officials to temporarily close Marconi Beach, according to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy's Sharktivity app.

After seeing the shark in the distance, the boat approached the area while Skomal tried to use a long pole to get the camera under the water line. That's when it suddenly breached the ocean's surface.

"Oh!", the boat's captain, John J. King II, can be heard saying.

Protesters, Florida school shooting survivors hold 'National March on NRA' rally
Meanwhile, March for Our Lives plans to hold rallies across the country as part of a bus tour, according to WTOP-TV (Washington). The NRA, however, can't entirely blame the Cuomo administration from its actions against the national organization.

In the video of the incident, the boat's captain screams, "Holy crap!" In this case, Skomal was trying to record video of the shark as part of the five-year shark population study he's conducting in association with the AWSC. But seeing it, and capturing it on video, is rare. It's unclear from the video how close the shark's open mouth comes to the underside of the pulpit. Just after the pilot says the shark is "right off your bow", the predator leaps toward Skomal.

The group called it a good reminder of the importance of not becoming complacent and always staying vigilant when in or on the water.

That encounter marked a first for both conservancy officials and Skomal, who had never before witnessed a great white breach the water during a hunt.
