Warner Bros Interested In James Gunn

Dave Bautista says he'll quit Guardians Vol. 3 if Disney doesn't use James Gunn's script

Well, one might assume that getting abruptly fired off a blockbuster franchise would be damaging to one's career, but a new report over at The Hollywood Reporter indicates this probably won't be the case for James Gunn: according to their sources, rival studios are chomping at the bit to hire the guy.

Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn immediately fired Gunn.

"I've been advised that we can't bring anything to him until the Disney matter is 100 percent resolved", another studio executive said, with the article noting some of the "major players" include Warner Bros, home of the DC brand of super hero movies.

After the comments were brought to the attention of Disney, they issued the statement, "The offensive attitudes and statements on James' Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio's values, and we have severed our business relationship with him".

Although Barr's tweets are new and about an actual person, Disney is aware it will look weak and hypocritical if it backs down and rehires Gunn.

Woods trying something new at PGA Championship
Only 13 players from that tournament are in the field; Woods missed it due to knee surgery he had that year after winning the U.S. Perhaps the lack of preparation will do Woods some good as everyone in the field is faced with the same situation this week.

Dave Bautista has been very vocal in support of his Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn since the filmmaker's firing from Guardians Vol. 3, stating yesterday that he'd return for the threequel due to contractual obligations, but would find it "nauseating" working for Disney.

Until that final exit is settled, no studio can officially make an overture for his next project. Because of this, Disney may have to offer Gunn a payout of $7 million to $10 million - or even higher. Dave Bautista doesn't want to have any part of that.

The wrestler-turned-movie star, who portrays Drax the Destroyer in Disney's big screen adaptations of the Marvel comic books, has made it clear he is not happy that Gunn will no longer be in charge of the franchise, following his dismissal in July, when old tweets he sent joking about rape and paedophilia were unearthed by conservative critics.

Another producer noted they can't presently speak with James Gunn until his exit from Disney is complete.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still technically slated to begin production early next year.
