Hugh Bowman on Winx wins race 6 the Winx Stakes during Sydney Racing at Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday

Winx celebrated fellow freak mare Black Caviar's birthday in memorable style by breaking her record for consecutive victories fittingly in the race named in her own honour at Randwick on Saturday.

"She's now not only won 26 in a row but 19 Group Ones and is in elite company as the victor of 30 races".

"The pressure came into the race and her and Kementari loomed large", trainer Chris Waller reported. "Haven't seen one ounce of it".

"It's quite scary. It shouldn't be about me". It's about that unbelievable animal behind us.

The so-called "match race" with rising star Kementari didn't eventuate, with Winx leaving her younger counterpart standing in the straight.

"Everything about this horse is phenomenal", she said.

Novak Djokovic beats Roger Federer for first Cincinnati title
Djokovic, who came up empty in five prior Cincinnati finals, defeated seven-time victor Roger Federer 6-4, 6-4 in the final. But it began to unravel as the Swiss double-faulted to yield a break point, dropping serve as Djokovic moved ahead 4-3.

The Queen Elizabeth Stakes was only one of three starts Winx had during the 2018 Sydney Autumn Carnival and Waller proclaims that her relatively light campaigns have enabled her to race into her seventh year.

The previous record holder, Black Caviar, claimed 25 consecutive wins before retiring unbeaten in 2013.

"I heard it and I'm sure she heard it because when the crowd erupted at the 250m mark she just dropped and went", Jockey Hugh Bowman told Seven Network following the race.

"I love being on her and I'm privileged to be on her and I get all the accolades but I'm sure she could do it without me".

After jumping evenly from barrier five, Bowman positioned Winx one-off the fence, just worse than midfield.
