Android 9 Pie Open Beta is Available for OnePlus 6

Unfortunately, with Google deciding not to protect older versions of Android, and the distribution of Android 9.0 Pie as limited as any new Android build, your best bet is to refrain from sideloading any unofficial app that could be used to take advantage of the vulnerability.

This information comes from research firm Nightwatch Cybersecurity, which discovered a vulnerability in Android that allows apps to ignore permissions to access information contained in system broadcasts.

The OnePlus 6, the current flagship smartphone from Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus, is now eligible for the OxygenOS Open Beta program. The original Oreo software had gestures already, but they were different from the Android Pie gestures. As such, moving to the OxygenOS Open Beta 1 is not recommended for all but advanced users who are aware of the risks. There is support for accent colour customisation to let you customise the experience on your OnePlus 6. The update brings a new Gaming Mode 3.0 as well with added text notification mode and notification for third-party calls.

Explainer: What does the recession mean for South Africa?
This is coming barely six months since the current president, Cyril Ramaphosa, took over power. Most economists predicted that South Africa would miss falling into a technical recession.

Being a beta version, the OxygenOS Open Beta 1 for the OnePlus 6 has some known issues. You can manually download and install the update, although its not quite ready yet. OnePlus notes that some applications may not function as expected, Google Pay is broken, and the Google Play Store might show a "Device is not Certified by Google" error.

Then reboot the phone, and you're good to go. You'll now need to select the Reboot system option to update the smartphone successfully. But Wednesday advise you to wait at least until the second open beta rolls along. Moreover, the update package is almost 1.5GB in size.
